Remote visual and alarm verification is one of the largest sectors of the security market. This session looks into the effect of programmes from the likes of BT which will consolidate complex networks to provide the next generation end-to-end IP–based solutions. The session will look at the effect of the current programmes on end-users, response centres, installers and manufactures. We also explore how central monitoring stations are handling the move to IP based technology.
The 2 hour session will cover the following areas:
• Preparing for the changing landscape of alarm and visual signalling
• Delivering new applications for the future
• Architecture and deployment considerations
• Identifying and delivering operating benefits
• Regulatory issues and codes of practice
• Mission critical nature and secure signalling
• Future trends and developments

The presentation will briefly review current control room technologies, layout and operation before moving on to how IP is changing these. An introduction to the concept of „Virtual‰ CCTV matrix switches will be given together with their features, benefits and current limitations. The concept of a Wide-Area Virtual Matrix (WAVM) will be introduced. The theme of virtual matrices will be developed to include the use of video wall technology and how this might be used to produce flexible display surfaces forming part of an overall Security Management or Facility Management System. The benefits of automating image display through video content analysis integrated in to CCTV control will be presented before the presentation closes with a review the implications on the use of IP technology with respect to control room layout and architecture

• Protecting of large and open sites
• Detection and Verification
• Accuracy in all weather conditions
• Tracking multiple targets
RadarVision is the next generation for perimeter Security. It is the ideal solution for the protection of large and open sites like Airports, Power Plants etc. RadarVision can not only detect intruders up to a distance of 800m radius but also give visual verification of the incidents. One of the main benefits over other detection systems is that the system will be continually updated so it constantly tracks the intruders. Even if the split into multiple targets the system is capable of monitoring and tracking the multiple targets.

• Fire - The ultimate challenge
• Video Smoke Detection
• Smoke Detection in the real world
• Conventional solutions in confined environments.
• What the future has to hold
Projecting tunnels against fire is often a challenge and conventional solutions tend to struggle in confined environments.
The Palm Jumeirah, dubbed the “eight wonder of the world”, is a man-made island that stretches out into the Persian Gulf in the shape of a date palm - the national plant of the United Arab Estates. Two parts of the islands are connected by a 1.4km long and 40 metres wide sub-sea tunnel. The presentation will detailed the CCTV-based VSD (Video Smoke Detection) chosen by Palm Jumeirah to protect the tunnel – a solution which has the ability to deliver a fast track response to potential fire detecting smoke in a matter of seconds.
