The increased use of wireless surveillance is enabling operators to site cameras in hot spots to help crowd control. This session looks at how IP based solutions have delivered valuable intelligence allowing operators to react quickly appropriately to threats, harassment, or violent behaviour.

Having the world’s leader all in one location at the same time is a security logistic nightmare so the heads of security had to look at the very best and latest in technology to allow them meet this challenge. The decision was made to install along side traditional TV cameras Thermal Imaging Cameras. Unlike the traditional cameras which wile effective were limited in its range and also subject to the lighting and weather conditions. This is the security awareness with the ability to have long range detection with the camera able to detect for objects at up to 1600meters in all weather, day or night. They also used hand held devices that ran on 4xAA batteries with a detection range of 800meters allowing mobile and QRF teams to be deployed and investigate and monitor areas.

Description

Bolton MBC Have an integrated security system covering all commercial industrial premises on Eight separate estates over a radius of 15 Kilometres and is run by a Not For profit ltd company owned by the member companies under the new Business Improvement Districts (BIDs). The scheme is an IP wireless system  with over 80 street based cameras all linking to a central station, which also monitors all intruder alarms, exclusive member web site and a co-ordinated mobile patrol. All the cameras are full function and the recording at 25 frames per sec and are saved for 30 days. The scheme was the first in the country to utilise IP wireless technology over such a wide area and large number of cameras and also has on line engineering. The scheme has reduced crime by over 80% since its inception in 2004 and is regarded nationally best of it’s type.

Description

Hundreds of thousands of people attended Independence Square in Accra, Ghana to celebrate fifty years of independence from British colonial rule earlier this year. All celebration events were monitored and recorded for safety and security purposes using Sicura Systems DigiFend, a Network Video Management System (NVM), in what is understood to be the largest IP CCTV surveillance system in Africa.
