Speaking Terms and Conditions
Please read carefully before applying to speak

By applying to speak at IIPSEC you have agreed to our speaking terms and conditions

Q - Do I have to Exhibit or Sponsor to qualify?
Yes. You should be an Exhibitor or Sponsor (unless you represent a government body, end- user or are a specially invited guest speaker).

Q - What type of speaker are you specially inviting to speak?
Consultants, Analysts, Industry experts and Standards-body Representatives giving neutral, industry - or market-related presentations (regardless of the company for which they work),

Q - What is a Vertical Market Case Study?
These are vendor/enduser presentations discussing client's requirements and their company's specific response to those requirements (i.e. products and strategic future directions), and are true end-user studies presenting their corporate challenges, directions, and solutions.

NOTE: A case study should be delivered by an end-user company representative where possible, and that he/she should share the podium with a vendor for a case study. So, while we are always anxious for good case studies at the IP-in-Action presentations, and we are pleased that a vendor might encourage its client to submit a proposal, the enduser speaker is "the main speaker" on the stage when presenting. (Of course, it is acceptable -- and even encouraged -- that case study speakers discuss their requirements, selection criteria, product choices, and deployment experiences with the audience. We just want to avoid any impression that a case-study presenter is just a vendor dominating the stage!)

Q - What are the responsibilities of an IIPSEC speaker?
In creating presentations, speakers should develop materials that will address the issues and concerns of end-user attendees. In other words, IIPSEC is not an opportunity to use canned marketing pitches. It is an opportunity to address substantive issues in a proactive manner. Vendor speaker participation usually includes a formal presentation (30 minutes), and at the end a brief question and answer session (10 minutes).

Q - What happens if I am unable to present?
Please understand that IIPSEC selected you as a speaker at IIPSEC due to the material that you have proposed, your position within your company and your reputation in the industry. If you must withdraw, IIPSEC would appreciate your proposal for an alternate speaker from your company. However, IIPSEC reserves the right to select a substitute speaker - either you’re proposed alternate or someone from a different company -- in the event that you are unable to deliver your presentation

Q - Who are the delegate’s attendees and what are they getting?
IIPSEC provides an environment in which corporate end-user customers, service providers, and vendors can meaningfully interact on the issues facing the network industry. The attendees consist of middle and upper-level business planners, consultants, and managers. They are technically adept and yearn to hear leaders detail a vision of the future and address substantive issues, not hype products. Corporate strategy announcements are welcome; product pitches and software demonstrations are not. Demonstrations are kept to the Showcase Area where attendees can choose to participate of their free will!

Q - What are the requirements of the speakers on the day?
It is required that you attend the entire session in which you speak. Each day starts with a speakers' preparation meeting and will conclude with a Q/A at the end in which all the sessions presenters participate.

Q - Do I need to sign a copyright release form? or What if my presentation contains copyright or proprietary information?
When you agree to deliver your presentation in front of the live IIPSEC audience, the IIPSEC team assumes that, by implied consent, you also agree to the distribution of those materials via printed copies, on the IIPSEC web site, and on IIPSEC CDs.

Q - Can I make changes to my presentation after it has been accepted?
After your presentation is accepted, it may be printed for inclusion in the printed materials for the attendees.

Q - How much time do the speakers have to present their materials?
Speakers typically have 30 minutes for their presentations, and at the close of the session a 10-minute Q&A.
