Description
This session will focus on railway station security, in particular an ambitious CCTV project developed for rail operator Southern, with DVRs and video management software from Dedicated Micros now forming the lynch pin of a powerful networked CCTV solution, monitored from a Control Room in Hove, East Sussex. This ongoing project is designed to enhance security on the train operator’s South West coast line, stretching from Bognor Regis to Brighton, and overcome the limitations of the previous CCTV infrastructure. The proposed presentation will illustrate the benefits which the project has brought in terms of managing the security and safety for the 20 stations now covered by the solution and, crucially, the thousands of travelers who use the route on a daily basis.

Description
As the roads and other public transport routes get more congested, there is a growing need to manage the demand and congestion more effectively. The Urban Traffic Control market was an early adopter of CCTV for traffic management and has a large installed base of analogue cameras. There is now a growing need to migrate these legacy systems to IP and to utilise video analytics for automatic incident detection. Alan Perrott from Tyco Traffic & Transportation describes the requirements of this market and presents some case-studies which illustrate how IP and video analytics are being used to provide state-of-the-art solutions.
